Is responsible for the execution of the flight, for safety of the passengers, the crew, the aircraft and the cargo. The captain is in command and supervises the cockpit and cabin crew:
Attends regular training and keeps informed of relevant developments, manuals, procedures, standards and regulations concerning the aircraft type;
Advices the respective Fleet Manager regarding flight issues;
Acquaints him/ herself with all the relevant particulars and the latest instructions concerning the aircraft and the flight route and signs the flight plans;
Assesses and checks the airworthiness of the aircraft, assesses the fitness and proficiency of the crew members and takes all measures concerning safe flight operations;
Monitors the safety and order on board and takes corrective action when necessary;
Supervises the work of the crew, gives instructions and takes decisions;
Operates the aircraft and handles take-off and landing maneuvers, monitors and handles instruments, electronic communication and navigation equipment;
Communicates with the Flight Operations Officer regarding relevant matters and reports significant deviations from the flight plan;
Communicates with the Air Traffic Control Tower regarding take-off clearance and relevant matters;
Drafts reports and documentation concerning amongst safety and incidents and occurrences and aircraft serviceability Acts as a representative of (abroad) and takes needs and wishes of customers and stakeholders in consideration;
Able to fly the aircraft safely and efficiently, taking into consideration passenger comfort.
Written and oral skills in the following languages: English, and preferably Papiamentu & Spanish

Learn More About This Job
Education on HBO level and (regular refreshment) courses such as a.o. Safety, Security, Fire Awareness, Crew Resource Management and Dangerous Goods.
Valid B-1 (ATP) license.
Type Rated F50, EASA or ICAO license
Minimum 2000 hours total time of which 1000 hours on jet Transport type aircraft of more than 15.000 kg.
